3rd Annual Monsters’ Ball Benefit:

Generations of Compassion Foundation (GCF) is a fully recognized 501©3 non-profit organization committed to helping individuals and families in need. GCF offers help in a variety of ways whether the need is financial or volunteer time. Examples of previous assistance include helping seniors move to assisted living by packing their belongings, cleaning their home for resale and providing transportation to appointments; helping a single mom by purchasing groceries when she was out of work; and holding a benefit to raise funds for medical bills for a young family without insurance and much more.

Last year, GCF raised over $7,000 during the Monsters Ball Benefit. All the proceeds have been donated to individuals and families in need of assistance. More information regarding the details of those helped can be viewed on our website, click here.

Tickets are free for kids under 2, $5 for kids 2-11, $10 for adults and $25 for families (2 adults and kids). There will be live music performed by Flipside from 6pm-9pm. There will also be door prizes, a silent auction, cash bar, a costume contest, catering and children’s’ activities.

Fairgrounds 5K

November 2, 2014 - 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm at Iowa State Fairgrounds
3000 East Grand Avenue

Join us for the 5K run, 1 mile walk, or Chase the Cow Kids’ Run. presented by West Bank, takes place in November on the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds. Runners, joggers and walkers are invited to join in a fun walk/run on the Fairgrounds’ park-like setting. Enjoy Fair scenery – without the Fair hustle and bustle – in beautiful fall weather!

After the race, enjoy a corndog, beer and a Fair Square – all while raising funds to help preserve and improve the Iowa State Fairgrounds! Whether you’re training for another race event or just want to see the Fairgrounds from a different perspective, the Fairgrounds 5K is a great opportunity to lace up your running shoes!

10th Annual Harvest Concert

Imagine hearing the 23rd Psalm, French poetry and Swingin’ Saints. Together. Think you’re dreaming? Wake up! You’re not dreaming! We’re not making this up! This is part of the program for the 10th Annual Harvest Concert. Over eighty singers and musicians, including the ensembles We Got Male and We Got Female, will be performing a variety of works from classical to country to humorous. The concerts will benefit the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry.

Reggie’s Sleepout

The 9th annual Reggie’s Sleepout will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014.  We are inviting the community to sleep under the stars so kids can reach them and gain education of youth homelessness in a fun and safe way. Funds raised will support homeless youth in central Iowa and Iowa Homeless Youth Centers.

If you are unable to attend, there is opportunity to make an online donation or sponsor someone you know to help this important cause. Reggie’s Sleepout takes place at Drake Stadium, Drake University.  Please visit reggiessleepout.org for more information.
