Little Big Fest 2014

Little Big Fest is an annual festival, featuring roots, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, jam, world, blues, jazz, and soul music. As with all DMMC events, local bands are heavily featured, though bands from around the U.S. also perform at the event.  Little Big Fest 2014 will take place on Nov. 21 – 22 at venues such as Wooly’s, House of Bricks, and Beechwood Lounge. It will feature William Elliott Whitmore, Charlie Parr, Kevin Gordon, Patrick Hazell and Joe Price (Mother Blues Band), Dave Moore, and many more.  Check out  http://www.desmoinesmc.com/events/little-big-fest/ for more information.

Danu-A Christmas Gathering

Musical celebrations on Christmas and Wren’s Day have been part of Irish tradition for hundreds of years. Hailing from historic county Waterford, the award-winning Danu brings together virtuoso players on fiddle, flute, accordion and percussion. Add the gorgeous voice of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and amazing guest dances, and the result is a truly memorable traditional Irish Christmas.

State Symphony of Mexico

The State Symphony of Mexico, under the direction of Nrique Batiz and accompanied by Russian piano soloist Irina Chistiakova, brings a fund and diverse repertoire to Stephens Auditorium. The program will include Three Spanish Dances and Intermezzo from Goyescas by Enrique Granados, Noches en los Jardines de Espana by Manuel De Falla and Iberia Suite by Isaac Albeniz.
