A Historic Quilt & Clothing Exhibition

Enjoy a look at rarely seen historic quilts from the nationally recognized Living History Farms quilt collection and explore the artistry of keeping warm! The Flynn Mansion hosts this display of quilts, covers, historic clothing, and household textiles. Be inspired for chilly weather with this peek at the beautiful items our grandparents made to keep warm. Children’s hands-on activities include quilt block coloring and sewing cards. Victorian Funeral

October 11, 2014 - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm at Living History Farms

In 1875, the funeral was a pageant of honored traditions. Families gathered to find joy in a public celebration of a life well lived. Visit the Tangen House, prepared with a period style coffin and funeral drapery, and visit with the mourners. At 1:00pm, join with historic interpreters as they celebrate the life and honor the death of a fictional 1875 Civil War Veteran with a re-created funeral. Walk in the funeral procession led by a horse-drawn hearse to New Hope Cemetery for a Veterans Memorial service. www.LivingHistoryFarms.org

Family Christmas

Join us for a holiday open house filled with Christmas cheer! Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride up the hill to the Flynn Mansion. This original 1870 Victorian home will be decorated for the season and bustling with preparations and music. Help trim the tree while music fills the parlor, and visit the kitchens for a sweet treat. Then stroll to the Church of the Land for an old fashioned holiday social with music and dancing. Taffy pulls, children’s crafts, and Santa Claus make the Visitor Center festive, and the MarketPlace Museum Store will be open for holiday shopping.
