The smell of apple fills the air in the town of Walnut Hill. Tour the Farm sites in the morning, and spend the afternoon in our 1875 town celebrating the coming of fall fruit! Try your hand at stirring the copper kettle of apple butter and take your turn cranking the cider press. Children’s games and crafts round out the fun. Fresh local apples and other goodies will be on sale in the Visitor Center. www.LivingHistoryFarms.org

Photography Day

Enjoy a day of photography workshops in Iowa’s largest outdoor photography classroom!  Photography experts will be on hand to offer classes and will be out in the field to help you perfect your photography technique. Amateurs as well as professionals are encouraged to attend. Capture stunning images of our scenic gardens, grounds and buildings, and catch the action at a historic baseball game at 1:30pm. Flynn Barn Dance

A Historic Quilt & Clothing Exhibition

Enjoy a look at rarely seen historic quilts from the nationally recognized Living History Farms quilt collection and explore the artistry of keeping warm! The Flynn Mansion hosts this display of quilts, covers, historic clothing, and household textiles. Be inspired for chilly weather with this peek at the beautiful items our grandparents made to keep warm. Children’s hands-on activities include quilt block coloring and sewing cards.
